THE CHICUCOS – TASTE TO SAW
Complete renovation and interior design of the restaurant The Chicucos – Taste to Saw, Cadiz
"Vintage yet modern"
We are in a restaurant located in the city of Cadiz the idea was born from the research of the beginnings of the gastronomy of Cadiz, these beginnings come from the so called "Baches" of Cadiz found in the eighteenth century, which were bars or taverns.
The challenge of the project is to bring the spirit and homage of the traditional potholes of the city center to the promenade in a contemporary version. The name “Los Chicucos” comes from the workers of these potholes, who were children between 13 and 16 years old. These used to work in the potholes, calling themselves “Los Chicucos” because of how small they were.
The owners of the restaurant, the challenge of completely renewing the space to improve, failure functional but above all creating a language that is fused between tradition and today. It is therefore proposed that the idea of celebrating the bumps, offering a new space endowed with meaning and a charter renewed, but that part of the gastronomy and craftsmanship typical of the city. Such is this point that has been proposed for this project with the idea of celebrating the bumps in cadiz, giving the customer cadiz that both longs for and how important was for the gastronomy in the province of cádiz. This concept coincides, moreover, with the request of the current owner to renew the establishment in a style with a "vintage yet modern". Designing a restaurant that is consistent with its brand and its gastronomy.
Having as a goal to create a design of traditional air at the same time that novel and functional, thinking about the comfort not only of visitors and guests, if not the workers of the establishment. A careful selection of materials and finishes will help us achieve this goal.
